Wool vs. Cotton vs. Custom Print: Which Hank Should You Carry?

We make three families of EDC hanks. Each one has a job. Here’s how to pick.

Custom Print (poly-cotton blend)

This is the workhorse line and where most of our designs live. The face is a poly-cotton blend that takes ink cleanly and holds color through years of washing. Slightly more structured than pure cotton — folds crisp, dumps flat.

Best for: daily EDC, lens wipes, knife wipes, pocket dumps, sharp graphic prints (anime, pop culture, tactical, topographic).

Wool (wool-polyester blend)

The dressier option. Wool face means a softer hand, a slightly heavier drape, and a tone that pairs better with leather, brass, and quieter EDC kits. Wool also handles water and odor better than cotton in long days.

Best for: Sherlock-style EDC, hunters, office EDC, leather-wallet crowd, anyone who wants their kit to feel finished.

Summertime Cotton

Lighter, breathable, more textile-forward. Cotton face for the months when you want something cool against the hand and less structured in the pocket. Same microfiber back, same square cut, lower thermal mass.

Best for: summer carry, beach trips, lighter loadouts, anyone whose hands run hot.

The microfiber back is non-negotiable

All three families share the same optician-grade microfiber backing. That’s the side that actually cleans your lenses, optics, and watch crystals without micro-scratches. The face is the personality. The back is the work.

Quick picker

  • Hot weather, lighter feel: Summertime Cotton.
  • Dressier kit, hunter, leather-and-brass crowd: Wool.
  • Bold print, daily workhorse, sharp graphics: Custom Print.

Handmade in small batches.
